Demons are supernatural beings. Demons exist, both in the physical and spiritual world. They are arranged into hierarchies according to their degree of power. Among all the various levels, from courtier to archduke, there are good demons and bad demons, also known as eudemons and cacodemons respectively. Eudemons are demons who don’t actively seek to screw up the human world. more accurate description would be chaotic and non-chaotic demons. ‘Chaotic’ demons or cacodemons are almost exclusively the kind who come into contact with the rest of us. A sorcerer or witch could summon a eudemon. Even if one said he was a eudemon, he’d probably be lying. A wise spellcaster abjures conjuring altogether.
Demi-Demon[]
Demi-Demon is a catch-all term used to refer to something that is not a ghost but also is not a celestial spirit. Amongst Demi-Demons the actual degree of demonic varies wildly.
Races of Demi-Demons:[]
- The Nix - evil creatures whose soul purpose is to convince mortals to act on their darkest desires such as murder or rape.
- The Djinn - mischievous creatures who take advantage of human greed to offer mortals a deal that usually won't go in the mortals favor.
- The Erinys a.k.a. The Furies - once worshiped as the goddesses of vengeance, they're called upon by mortals to take vengeance on those who have wronged them but they only act against those who have commited serious offenses such as murdering a loved one. They have strict ethics but they won't try and convince victims to forgive and can cause great havoc when meting out justice which is why they're classified as demi-demons.

History[]
Demons were first mentioned in Stolen, after Elena 's discovery of supernaturals such as half-demons. All that was said was that demons sometimes take the form of human males and mate with females to create half-demons. The first Demon wasn't seen until Dime Store Magic, when Savannah unknowingly conjured one up in her attempt to summon her mother. The Demon, Paige suspected, was very powerful in the hierarchy.
Bargains[]
For centuries humans and supernaturals have summoned demons and bargained with them, with the bargain almost always going wrong for the human or supernatural but people continue to do so in the hopes of being the one who gets it right. When demons bargain they don't lie, they'll misdirect, mislead, exploit loopholes but they will not break their oath and will always fulfill their end of a bargain because if they outright broke their oaths then no one would bargain with them.
